A multi-instrumentalist with classical roots, Cynthia has lived and made music in New York, Amsterdam, Colorado, India, and places between. Ever intrigued by world music and improvisation, she studied classical Indian music (bamboo flute and kanjira) in India and at Wesleyan University’s World Music Program. It was inevitable that the beauty of the Irish flute would eventually capture her heart. She began playing it in earnest after spending time on the west coast of Ireland with poet and fiddler David Whyte, and owes much to inspirational time spent with Irish flute players Chris Norman, Seamus Egan and Catherine McEvoy, among others. She plays a cocoswood flute made by Pat Olwell.
